We’ve never seen United legend Paul Scholes encourage a Manchester United player to sign with rivals Chelsea, but in the case of Kobbie Mainoo, Scholes was so frustrated and angry at the treatment Amorim had given to the club’s greatest talent. Ruben Amorim is now history, Mainoo has gotten older (with a little more ground contact) since he sat down in negotiations for an extension and salary increase last season. This combination now seems to give Scholes a result he can applaud.
In Michael Carrick’s first game as interim Man Utd manager, Kobbie Mainoo was back in the starting eleven. Manchester City were sunk at Old Trafford, the 20-year-old stood the entire game. Thus, a continuous downward streak was interrupted for Mainoo. Not a single game from the start with Amorim on the sidelines, the City game marked the change.

Because according to Sky Sports, Manchester United are now ready to enter into talks with the 20-year-old about a new contract. The current one runs out in 18 months, with Amorim gone, Mainoo is again a player United can bet on.
Although Kobbie Mainoo is said to have pushed for an exit, the 20-year-old has little reason to leave the youth club when the playing time door opens again.
