In January, the announced exit of Marcus Rashford came. Aston Villa opened the door for the disgruntled United star, covered a large chunk of United’s wage costs and negotiated a £40 million purchase option for a permanent transfer. After coming on in two games, all parties seem to be satisfied. However, work is being done for a different outcome than Villa Park in the summer.
Barcelona were closely linked to Rashford for a period in January, this week sporting director Deco confirmed that Barca were considering bringing the 27-year-old to La Liga. It didn’t work out financially, a transfer that is being described by the English media as Rashford’s first choice of club.
Ink The Sun’s source, Rashford claims has a plan for the coming months that builds up to a move to Barcelona this summer.
“Marcus is confident that once he regains his form at Villa Park and starts scoring goals, Barcelona will resume their interest, especially as a transfer price has been established. It’s a big incentive for him, which is good news for Villa. Now he just has to play and start scoring,” says the English ink’s source.
Aston Villa will have an extremely determined and motivated Rashford, who has shown he is good for 15-30 goals in a season, but if Unai Emery gets a sparkling performance from Rashford in the coming months, this also means that the likelihood of Rashford starting in a Villa shirt next season will be correspondingly smaller.
