While Micheal Carrick is leading Manchester United on a steady course towards a Champions League ticket, discussions are ongoing at the club about whether the United legend can lead the club to titles as well. There are reports of anything but agreement in the back room.
Since Amorim was sacked and United appointed an interim manager, there has been a lot of speculation about who could come this summer to take over and lead the club into their next era. A report by iPaper claims that if Carrick succeeds in bringing United back to the Champions League, INEOS and Ratcliffe believe he should be rewarded with the job permanently, on a short-term contract, as they believe he deserves a chance to drive change at the club.

That was the owner, but according to iPaper, CEO Omar Berrada and Director of Football Jason Wilcox, who are believed to be responsible for the process of selecting a new manager, are both looking to bring in a more experienced coach, with Luis Enrique at the top of the wish list.
