Gerhard Struber is relieved of his duties, with the club in 16th place in the Championship. Struber leaves the club with a track record of 16 wins, nine draws and 17 losses in his 42 games in charge of the Robins.
According to the club’s official website, Hodgson will start working with the squad on March 30, before leading the team in the away game against Charlton on April 3.
In an interview with the club’s media channels, Hodgson said:
“I’ve had good conversations with the board, and I’m really excited about the opportunity to contribute for the rest of the season. We get to work immediately and look for a positive performance on Good Friday.
The 78-year-old has not been a manager since leaving Crystal Palace in 2024. Hodgson previously managed Bristol City all the way back in 1982.
In an interview with the club’s media channels, Bristol City CEO Charlie Boss stated:
“I would like to thank Gerhard and Bernd for their hard work over the past nine months, and we wish them all the best.

“Roy is a very experienced coach who has achieved and won at the highest level. He will support me, our players and our football professional staff in the work to reach our potential.
“We are in the process of hiring a sports director who will have direct input in the recruitment of a new permanent head coach.
