Alex Ferguson. Sir Alex. The Scotsman with the explosive temperament, the winner’s skull who led Beckham, Rooney and the rest of the superstars to the biggest titles in the period 1986-2013. In a post-Ferguson era, a handful of managers have tried to lead Man Utd to similar success without coming close to success. Last season, 15th place in the Premier League was the definitive low. It says a lot about Ruben Amorim’s belief in his own football that he now intends to lead Manchester United further than Sir Alex.
The successful coach at Sporting got a real blow when he had to transfer his football to a Manchester United squad that, outside of the cup title, was already down on its knees in the Premier League with Ten Hag.

Amorim refused to change his philosophy and formation, after the end of the season he was open to quitting as coach if the owners had lost faith. The belief was there, Amorim is now in full pre-season, has brought in PL guns like Cunha and Mbeumo and is convinced he can lead United back to the top.
“I want to stay here. I want to stay here for 20 years. That’s my goal, and I really believe in it. Something will happen. It always happens. For a few moments, I will be lucky. I’ve been very lucky in my career as a manager, and my idea is to stay here for many years,” Amorim begins in an interview with The Telegraph.
“We know that the results will dictate that. I know I used all the credit I had last season, but I’m ready to start over. At Sporting, it was the same. They condemned me after three months. They said I had a three percent chance of winning the title with Sporting. I know the pressure is different at United, but I don’t like to change clubs. I like to build relationships with people and continue in the same place,” Amorim continues.
Who goes into his first start of the season as Manchester United manager with good feelings.
“I know it sounds crazy, but I chose this club. I had a feeling, and I want to build relationships, be part of this club and stay here.
David Moyes, Van Gaal, Mourinho, Solskjaer, Rangnick and Ten Hag were all sacked long before five years had passed in the job. Managing Amorm Man Utd still in 2030, we know the Portuguese has succeeded. If Amorim manages to keep his job for 20 years, then he will probably have surpassed Alex Ferguson’s success.
