Marcus Rashford has been left out of the Manchester United squad for the Premier League game against Bournemouth on Sunday.
Ruben Amorim decided to leave Rashford out of his squad for the game at Old Trafford after the striker’s controversial interview with Henry Winter earlier this week. Marcus Rashford admitted on Tuesday that he is “ready for a new challenge” amid rumours that he will leave Manchester United in 2025.
The 27-year-old was ruled out of the Red Devils’ matchday to face Manchester City last Sunday, and he has been heavily linked with a departure in recent weeks.
Rashford followed up that ban against City – which United won 2-1 – with an interview with Henry Winter two days later in which he stated that he wanted to leave the club.
What did Marcus Rashford say?
“For me personally, I think I’m ready for a new challenge and the next steps.” Rashford told Henry Winter after he returned to his old primary school, Button Lane.
“When I leave it’s going to be ‘no hard feelings’. You’re not going to have any negative comments from me about Manchester United. It’s me as a person.
“If I know a situation is already bad, I’m not going to make it worse. I’ve seen how other players have quit in the past and I don’t want to be that person. When I leave, I will do it. a statement, and it will be from me.”
Rashford continued: “I’m halfway through my career. I don’t expect the peak to be now. I’ve had nine years so far in the Premier League and it’s taught me a lot, it’s helped me grow as a player and as a person.
“So I have no regrets for the last nine years. I’m not going to regret it going forward because I take things day by day and sometimes bad things happen, sometimes good things happen. I’m just trying to keep a nice balance.”
Amorim has now responded to Rashford’s actions by leaving him out of the squad for the game against Bournemouth.
When asked about the reasons for dropping Rashford again, Amorim replied: “It’s my decision and it always will be. I want to see the best from my players, and then I try different things with different players, so that’s my focus. .”
This omission will further fuel reports that Rashford will be sold in January.
Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen for Rashford to be sold, and the Portuguese tactician is keen to cut back on his first-team squad at Old Trafford when the January transfer window opens.
Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have both been touted as possible destinations for Rashford, as have Saudi Pro League clubs.
