It has become a tradition for United legends to use the microphone or keyboard to hammer away at their old club, with Paul Scholes, Gary Neville, Roy Keane and Rio Ferdinand leading the way. After Wayne Rooney was sacked, first at Birmingham, then Plymoth Argyle, the statements about United have sharpened. Perhaps not so strange when he spends most of his time in front of the microphone talking football. For Ruben Amorim, it must therefore have been a small victory that Rooney in the space of a month and a half has gone from “This is going to football hell for United”, to a “Looks like I was wrong” comment.
It was after the 3-1 loss to Brentford in September, that Wayne Rooney lashed out at Amorim. The conclusion was on the table, Ruben Amorim would not be able to turn the United ship around. In the next game, the turning point came, where Amorim has not lost since.

Rooney tries to put some kind of apology to Amorim into an analysis setting, so it doesn’t look too amateurish. After all, it’s only been a month and a half since Rooney drew a firm conclusion about Amorim as United manager.
– Now they have got some good results, and you can see that the confidence is on the way back, also with the coach. They are gradually improving, and there has clearly been progress. It has been tough for everyone around the club and for Rúben Amorim, who I myself have been critical of a few weeks ago. But we are seeing improvements, and the players are starting to get to know each other better as well as new players coming into the team,” says Rooney.
Who now thinks it can be enough for a Champions League ticket for his old club.
