Anyone remember Gary Pallister? The centre-back giant played football in the red shirt between 1989 and 1998. Like a bunch of other United legends, he is encouraged to come up with his analysis of the old club and “today’s players”. When it became known Mason Mount was back on the training ground this week after his latest injury, Pallister snorted. For him, Mount is the worst United signing of all time.
Manchester United forked out £55 million for Chelsea’s former academy player. Since the summer of 2023, the midfielder has not warmed up in the United shirt. Injuries, lack of match form and Ten Hag’s lack of confidence and play have ensured that. Then came the change to Ruben Amorim, the change came immediately, where Mount showed he fits very well into Amorim’s formation and game. Not many weeks later, Mount was out with a new injury.
-Mason Mount is one of the worst signings ever. Like in the history of football. It’s literally a disaster. He’s a disaster, and he was at Chelsea as well, so I can’t understand why Man Utd decided to bring him in. I’ve always said that I don’t know what his best position is. I don’t know what he’s good at, and even worse, I don’t think he knows either, Pallister is buzzing according to Teamtalk.
Pallister doesn’t have to think about it, because Ruben Amorim has a completely different opinion of Mount. The United manager loves Mount’s type of player and is very much looking forward to being able to use the player in the United attack on Sunday.
