Before the Nottingham Forest game, Ruben Amorim was asked about Anthony Elanga. The Swede was singled out as redundant by Erik Ten Hag, made the move to Nottingham Forest – and has since not looked back. Amorim tried to be careful about how he spoke about Ten Hag’s and the club’s assessment, but still added that “not everyone can handle the big pressure as a United player”. On Tuesday, United faced an Elanga who surely had heard this comment. It cost Amorim three points.
What a race by Elanga! The Swede took the ball deep in his own half after a few minutes played, went through United’s entire half before slamming it into the net after 4 minutes and 47 seconds. A goal the Manchester United players and Amorim never recovered from.

Three points to Nottingham Forest, only four points behind Arsenal in 2nd place. Now Elanga has 14 Premier League goals, only four behind Manchester United’s top scorer, Bruno Fernandes.
We include part of Amorim’s comment, before this game, on Elanga’s exit from Manchester United: “It’s a completely different club. You know the pressure we’re under. Some players can adapt to it, others can’t,” the United manager said.
Which was punished by the Swede, who clearly had the potential all the way to handle the pressure. Manchester United made a mistake in sending Elanga out of the club, Amorim understands this after Tuesday’s game.
