The striker who is now referred to as the next Erling Braut Haaland is neither blond, looks like a noble boy nor from Norway, but he is from a mountain country and finds the goal with enormous power and precision.

Manchester United have “discovered” striker Oghenetejiri Adejenughure from Austrian second division club Liefering (right after former interim Mancheshter United manger and national team manager of Austria Ralf Rangnick did).

After the international break in March, Manchester United return for a tough Premier League game against Nottingham Forest at The City Ground on Tuesday. Ruben Amorim’s team goes into the clash as definitive underdogs.

With only 37 points from 29 league rounds, United are in a disappointing 13th place, while Nottingham Forest led by Nuno Espírito Santo occupy 3rd place. The club’s goal tally of 37 goals is the seventh worst in the league.

Reinforcements needed

If Amorim is to be the one to turn United’s fortunes around in the 2025/26 season, he will likely need new attacking players. However, due to financial challenges, the Portuguese coach may not be able to bring in big stars.

Instead, the club could look towards younger and more affordable talent – such as Adejenughure, who according to the Daily Star has been scouted by Manchester United this season.

Adejenughure: “The new Haaland”?

Adejenughure has been compared to Manchester City’s Norwegian goal machine Erling Haaland and was recently invited to training with the Austrian national team by boss Ralf Rangnick.

The 18-year-old is 183 cm tall, fast, physically strong and has a hard shot. Manchester United would like to avoid repeating the same mistake they made with Haaland, who was recommended to the club by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer while he was still playing for Molde.

That blunder is referred to as the most expensive Manchester United blunder of all time. Haaland is currently worth 200 million euros, while Molde were willing to sell for 1 million euros.

Although Adejenughure has admirers across Europe – including AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund – a transfer would be risky if United plan to use him in the first team immediately.

He has only played 867 minutes in the Austrian second division, and it would be surprising if he manages to adapt to the Premier League so quickly.

Perhaps Amorim can consider loaning him out, while developing Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee. But it remains to be seen if this duo can help United return to the Champions League. – It looks dark.
