The Manchester Evening News claims Ruben Amorim only needed two months on the job to decide that Andre Onana was not the right man on the line for United. Since then, the goalkeeper blunders have come like pearls on a string, albeit with some world-class saves in between. Now Amorim sends United into a bidding war against city rival City.
Because the goalkeeper in question is a compatriot of Amorim, where the Porto management senses the smell of a bidding war between the two Premier League giants.

Diogo Costa has previously been linked with Manchester United, less than two months before the transfer window opens, according to Portuguese media, the Porto goalkeeper is Amorim’s first choice.
According to Corriere da Manha, both Manchester United and Manchester City are very interested in the 25-year-old. United need a new first goalkeeper, City need the successor to Ederson.
Costa has 15 clean sheets in 30 league games this season, in the Nations League quarter-finals against Denmark, Costa was the obvious last line of defence and saved Portugal and Ronaldo to advance.
The Portuguese media reports Manchester United had scouts in place at the Estadio do Dragao on Friday to follow Costa, as Porto beat Famalicao 2-1.

With City management also on the hunt for Costa’s signature, this could be costly for United. With Ruben Amorim pointing to Costa as the first choice, the United management will sell enough players to go a long way in a bidding war against City. Diogo Costa is going to Old Trafford.
