Dutchman Ruud van Nistelrooy, who for a number of years was one of Europe’s top goalscorers, was brought to Old Trafford this summer to help the club’s attacking line find goals.

Now, his short and successful stint as interim manager has landed him the job as manager of Leicester.

“I’m proud,” he said in a statement on Leicester’s website.

“I’m proud, I’m excited. Everyone I talk to about Leicester City Football Club is enthusiastic. They have great stories about the quality of the people who work at the club, the supporters and, of course, the recent history of the club is impressive. I’m excited to start and get to know everyone and give everything I can for the football club.”

Ruben Amorim was brought in as Manchester United manager, the ex-striker had to leave on November 11 and now barely three weeks later he is back in the Premier League.

The Dutch icon is the new manager of Leicester, who sit in 16th place in the Premier League. The contract runs until 2027.

Ruud van Nistelrooy will get his first game as Leicester boss when West Ham visit the King Power Stadium in the Premier League on Tuesday.
