Ruud van Nistelrooy’s task as the new manager of Leicester City is easier to describe than to carry out. The Foxes will be lifted out of the relegation zone. The club sacked Steve Copper after a weak autumn, currently sitting in 16th place in the Premier League table, just a point off the bottom three.

Van Nistelrooy won three of his four games as interim manager at Man Utd after the club sacked Erik ten Hag, but was sacked after incoming boss Ruben Amorim decided not to keep the Dutchman on the coaching staff at Old Trafford.

The 48-year-old will stay in the Premier League, CaughtOffside claims that he wants three top talents he knows well from his months at Old Trafford.

Midfielder Daniel Gore is the first name mentioned, he has only played two senior games for the Red Devils so far, and the 20-year-old’s current market value is €900,000 according to Transfermarkt. His contract runs until the summer of 2026.

Harry Amass is the next name on the list, with the 17-year-old left-back considered too young to have tried to fill in for the oft-injured Luke Shaw at Old Trafford.

Amass is an England youth international who was called up for United’s first-team training for the first time in February. In April, he was given a place on the bench for United against Liverpool, but did not feature in the game.

The final name mentioned is defensive midfielder Toby Collyer, who joined United’s academy from Brighton in 2022 and made a big impression in Premier League 2 last season.

After featuring in pre-season under Ten Hag, he featured in the 2024 FA Community Shield against Manchester City, coming on as a substitute in the 59th minute.

He made his Premier League debut on 1 September, coming on as Casemiro in a 3-0 home defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

Van Nistelrooy clearly has extensive knowledge of all three players and can use that to his advantage when he takes the reins of King Power.
