Leicester have so far manoeuvred away from points deductions in the Premier League for breaching rules for profitable and sustainable club operations, but this week the club could be forced into a situation that smells strongly of points deductions. This comes the same week Ruud van Nistelrooy has injected optimism with the win against West Ham in the Dutchman’s debut game.
Van Nistelrooy did the job on Tuesday, with only a single training session with the Leicester players behind him. Now the danger threatens that the Dutchman’s points could be broken.

Football-Insider reports one of the sponsors, BC. Game, has pulled out of the UK and is on its way to bankruptcy. With around £30 million in sponsorship revenue from the online bookmaker company spread over two years, Leicester is losing a very important source of income.
Football economics expert Stefan Borson explains the situation to Football-Insider:
-They probably have PSR problems (rules for sustainable operations) for this year. Leicester have just sacked and replaced a manager, which doesn’t help,” Borson begins.
-Now there is the situation with BC. GAME, which is unclear but can definitely have an impact on their profit and loss and PSR calculation. It is not clear whether you will be able to claim that the insolvency of a sponsor was ordinary business.

“It would be the ultimate test in front of an independent commission. Would they have any leeway even if they cannot replace that sponsor? They are in a difficult place, PSR-wise. They have to work through it,” Borson concludes.
Sorry, Van Nistelrooy, points could slip away over the course of the season.
