It is described as a spectacular coup in the English media if Wrexham were to succeed in film and TV stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s summer plans to sign a former Manchester United player.
It will be exciting to see if there is actually any money left for the star duo to finance further growth in a few months.

Coup because it will be a free transfer, spectacular because there is a lot of competition.
Wrexham have secured promotion two years in a row, and the Welsh club are aiming to achieve a third consecutive promotion this season. They are currently second in the League One table with 78 points.
Wrexham have remained strong since January, having brought in strikers Sam Smith and Jay Rodriguez.
Smith, 26, arrived from rivals Reading for an undisclosed sum, but which is still understood to be a record transfer for the club. Rodriguez (35) also came for an undisclosed sum from Burnley.
And Wrexham are planning to strengthen their squad further this summer, especially if they secure a place in the Championship next season.
According to The Daily Mail, Wrexham are interested in signing Rangers’ Tom Lawrence, who comes from Manchester United’s youth academy.
Lawrence’s current contract expires at the end of the season, and reports claim that he is “opening the door” for a potential move as a free agent this summer. Several clubs in the UK and abroad are monitoring the situation, including Reynolds and McElhenney’s club, who are ready for an “ambitious” attempt to lure the Wrexham-born player to the Racecourse Ground.
Lawrence is also attracting interest from Championship clubs, with Burnley, Coventry City, West Brom, Middlesbrough and Blackburn Rovers among those keeping an eye on the player, who has played almost 300 games in the second tier of English football.

In Europe, Olympiacos, PAOK and Besiktas – the latter led by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer – are also interested.
Lawrence has also not ruled out extending his stay with the Rangers. The 31-year-old signed for Rangers in the summer of 2022 and has scored 11 goals in 65 appearances for the Scottish club.
He went through Manchester United’s youth academy and played one game for the first team. He had several loan spells away from the club while he was under contract there.
The Welsh player played for Carlisle United, Yeovil Town, Leicester City, Rotherham United, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town before signing permanently for Derby
