When you’re on your birth certificate as the son of Alex Ferguson, you have to put up with being compared to one of the greatest managers of all time. Darren Ferguson has nevertheless performed strongly at some levels under Sir Alex’s previous arena, but on Saturday junior Ferguson had to admit that he had been sacked.
Darren Ferguson has been the manager of Peterborough since January 2023. This is the fourth time (!) he has led the club (2007-09, 2011-15, 2019-22) but this time the 53-year-old does not get renewed confidence.

Ferguson has previously been an excellent manager for Peterborough United, and has been promoted a total of four times with the club, but not this season.
Darren Ferguson made 30 first-team appearances for Manchester United as a professional player and lifted the trophy as league champion in the 1992/93 season. As a coach, it has been Peterborough x 4 plus a stay as coach of Doncaster Rovers (also with promotion).
