We are only eight days into the new year, but in the world of football, things have already been boiling well. Enzo Maresca disappeared from Chelsea, was replaced by Liam Rosenior from Chelsea’s “sister club” Strasbourg, this has made the fans of the Ligue 1 club angry. Ruben Amorim made statements that had to be fired at Manchester United, and “our man” Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is well on his way in. In Lazio, it also boils well. Former Chelsea coach, the chain-smoking Maurizio Sarri, is threatening to resign – and quickly.

Sarri was brought back to Lazio in the summer, after being out of work since he was fired from the same club in 2024. Now the football professor is again threatening to exit.

Sarri’s mission at Lazio in round two was easy to formulate, but harder to reach: Top four and Champions League qualification. After 19 games, the club is 11 points away from a Champions League ticket, extra annoying to see the mini-putt Como still in the fight for the top four.

“I said at the start of the season that I would stay here at all costs and do everything. Well, I’ve had to deal with more than I expected. The only thing that hurts me, you guys, is that we have such amazing fans. I think it will be very difficult to give them any joy, and that weighs on me,” Maurizio Sarri begins, according to Football Italia.

Sarri was then asked if he intends to stay at Lazio for the rest of the season.

“I gave my word to the Lazio fans. So I think I will. The transfer window is not closed yet, I think the club can do many more things steadily.

Because it stands or falls on the Lazio management’s activity in the transfer market. Among other things, Sarri is unhappy that Lazio sold Matteo Guendouzi to Fenerbahce.

In addition, Lazio are close to signing Peter Rakov from RB Salzburg, a player who is not on Sarri’s wish list.

“I don’t know this player. Probably the people at the club know him better than me, but I honestly don’t know what to say. I haven’t watched Austrian football. I don’t have time…, Sarri says dryly.

The Lazio supporters have been warned.
