McTominay was brought to Napoli from Manchester United in the summer for a transfer fee of around €30.5 million. At the last update, Transfermarkt has increased his value to over 40 million euros and more to come.
Scott McTominay has become a “liability” for Napoli in one area off the pitch, despite his strong form on the pitch, one of his teammates has revealed in a joke.
The sale was received with mixed reactions from United fans, with then-manager Erik ten Hag reportedly keen to keep the Scot at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old has impressed under Antonio Conte in Italy and has quickly become one of Napoli’s key players – even compared to Diego Maradona in terms of impact. -The late Diego Maradona is the king of Naples, he brought glory and Serie A title to the mafia city and it is not without reason that the World Cup winner for Argentina in 1986 has had the stadium named after him, Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Napoli won the Scudetto in 2023, but finished 10th in a mare season last year. McTominay has played a crucial role in their return as title contenders. Manager Antonio Conte focused on the English market towards the end of the summer transfer window to strengthen his squad, and McTominay’s former Manchester United teammate Romelu Lukaku was brought in from Chelsea on a permanent deal.
The Italian coach also signed McTominay’s national team teammate Billy Gilmour, who came from Brighton and Hove Albion.

“If you go out with Scott, it’s absolutely wild,” he said, referring to McTominay’s “typical Northern European look” and height, which makes him “stand out.”
But it was another national team teammate he consulted with before his transfer to Napoli.
“I’m pretty close to Lewis [Ferguson, Bologna’s captain]. I followed him when he was in Bologna.
“When I saw him in the national team, I asked him about Italy. I just wanted to hear it from a different source.”
