Scott Parker believes that Arsenal are favourites to win the Premier League title, ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Parker’s Burnley faced the Gunners at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon and lost 2-0 thanks to goals from Viktor Gyökeres and Declan Rice.

While the loss was a blow, it means the Clarets won’t have to worry about facing any of the Premier League’s top teams for a while. This is because Parker’s team has already faced Tottenham and Manchester United, not to mention the real title contenders Liverpool and Manchester City, to whom they lost 1-0 and 5-1, respectively.

Arsenal have “all the ingredients” to win the league

Despite losses to Liverpool and Manchester City, Parker suggested that Arsenal may be the best-equipped team when it comes to challenging for the Premier League title. In a conversation after the 2-0 loss, Parker said:

“They are simply a very, very good team. They are a team that I believe has every single ingredient to win the league this year.”

“In every aspect of their game, defensively, in attack, set pieces, they’re a top, top team. We just weren’t good enough today.”

On Arsenal’s threat from set-pieces, Parker added: “If you don’t have those players, you probably don’t score as many goals as Arsenal score.”

“It doesn’t just come down to the two (Gabriel and Saliba). You have someone who delivers the ball. Every time you ask for it to be placed backwards, it is placed backwards. If you ask for it to be put in front, and the barrels are there, then it is put there.”

“You also have the timing of the races, the physics of the races, and they are extremely good at it. Beyond the natural talent they have and the willingness to go head-to-head, it’s sometimes difficult.”

Parker continued to sing the league leader’s praises, adding, “A lot of teams have had their battles against them. You’re always trying to find ways.”

“For us, it was about trying to get more control than we have had against top teams like Liverpool and Manchester United when we faced them. Can we gain some control while being a threat?”

Arsenal’s win over Burnley means they are seven points ahead at the top of the table, with their closest challengers, Bournemouth, set to face Manchester City on Sunday.
