TalkSPORT has invited Premier League veteran manager Sean Dyche to talk about all sorts of things, including the obvious soon-to-be-vacant job at Tottenham.

While they sat and chatted, of course in North London (no coincidence that they are close to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium)

Sean Dyche is said to be in the running for the coaching job at Tottenham.

Tottenham are in free fall, and the relatively newly hired coach Igor Tudor, who in turn replaced the sacked Thomas Frank, is already hanging by a thread.

A number of different coaches have been linked to the Spurs job, should Tudor also be sacked. One of these is Sean Dyche.

The former Burnley, Everton and Nottingham manager gave an answer to the rumour merry-go-round over the weekend. This was when he participated in the live TV and radio channel Talksport.

“Honestly, I was in a pub near where I live. Then a guy says to me: “Oh, you’re about to negotiate with Spurs”. Then I said: “Well, I’m sitting next to you in the pub drinking a pint of Guinness – that’s highly unlikely”.

Dyche continues the joking statement:

“I said to the guy, ‘No, I’m not negotiating with Spurs. I’m sitting here with you, buddy. And I’m on Talksport. That’s what I do”.

After the anecdote, Dyche answers more seriously what it’s like to be rumored for a job.

“No matter what you do, it’s a very difficult situation. It’s reasonable for people to ask about it. When you’re a coach, you know you’re going to get these questions at some point, no matter what part of your career it is, if you do well.

Dyche thinks it’s hard not to respond in a way that makes people think that something concrete is going on.

“If you’re asked, and you try to be respectful, because let’s obviously use Tottenham as an example – a brilliant club, a huge club and all that. Then those who ask say: “Oh, he hasn’t said no!”. Then you say: “No”. And they say, “Oh, he really wants the job”.

Did you pay attention? That will probably have to be done around Tottenham’s coaching situation in the near future. The London club are in 17th place in the Premier League – one point from the relegation place, with seven league rounds remaining.
