Real Madrid legend Sergio Ramos currently plays for Mexican club Monterrey. – But even though it was “a fantastic experience”, the 39-year-old wants one last round in one of the big leagues.
And “finally” it could be the Premier League as one of the toughest centre-backs of all time. – I think that the number 93 who has tattooed just above his left ear is the number of attackers he has eaten for breakfast.

Ramos has been captain of both Real Madrid and the Spanish national team for the past two decades.
The defender clearly still has a lot to offer despite being in the twilight of his illustrious career, as the Spaniard has registered seven goals in 32 games since joining Monterrey in February 2025.
However, Ramos’ contract expires at the end of December, which means he will be available for free from January 2026 and, as expected, according to reports, several suitors have already appeared.
The 39-year-old announced that he played his last game for Monterrey in their Liga MX playoff semifinal loss to Toluca on December 7. After the loss, Ramos claimed that the game was his “last game” for the club, and reports suggest that he would prefer a return to Europe.
And according to Cadena SER, the former Paris Saint-Germain player has reportedly received an offer to join Manchester United at the beginning of 2026. Although Manchester United have set their machinery in motion to sign Ramos, there is a rock in the sea.
United have previously shown interest in Ramos on several occasions even as far back as 2015, something the player himself confirmed in an interview with the Mirror in 2023.
“I stayed where I should have been, Real Madrid, but I was actually close to playing for United,”
“It didn’t happen, but I maintain that admiration for the club, for the Premier League and for the players, because the pace of play, the pace of play is different, and it’s a league we can all learn a lot from.”
And the decision to remain in Madrid proved to be the right one, as he went on to add three Champions League winners’ medals to his already impressive trophy collection at the Santiago Bernabeu.

According to Sky Sports at the time, United made a bid of £28.6 million for Ramos’ services, but the deal fell through when the defender signed a new five-year deal that summer.
So we could still see Ramos compete in England’s top division. He would no doubt strengthen United’s defensive line, which currently consists of centre-backs Lisandro Martinez, Matthijs de Ligt, Leny Yoro, Ayden Heaven and Harry Maguire.
