Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola wants to dominate this summer’s transfer market with two top signings. – He has seen how Liverpool, despite winning the Premier League last season, are very active in the transfer market.
Manchester City are willing to invest €150 million to sign Rodrygo and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who have become two options in the transfer market. The Italian is priced at €50 million, while the Brazilian costs €100 million.

Guardiola has to make his mark to secure the Premier League and Champions League next season, after a weak season in which they could not fight for the major titles.
Rodrygo, Manchester City’s top priority
The Brazilian striker is at a turning point in his career. Although he has been crucial for several titles with Real Madrid, the competition in attack and possible summer signings have created doubts about his future. According to sources close to the club, City are preparing an offer of 100 million euros, of which 80 million is fixed and 20 million in bonuses.
“Rodrygo is a player with speed, goals and technique, exactly what we need,” a member of City’s coaching staff said. Last season, the Brazilian scored 17 goals and provided 8 assists across all competitions. The problem is that City are waiting to sell Savinho before going all-in for the Brazilian winger, and they have just turned down a £70m offer from Tottenham for him.

The other big target is Gianluigi Donnarumma, Paris Saint-Germain’s goalkeeper. PSG have put a price tag of €50 million on him and have already left him out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham, confirming his imminent departure.
As a 26-year-old and European Championship winner in 2020, the Italian goalkeeper is seen by Guardiola as the ideal replacement for Ederson. In the last Champions League season, Donnarumma had a save percentage of 78% and kept six clean sheets.
The signing of Donnarumma depends on Ederson going to Galatasaray, a transfer that could be worth 30 million. City plan to reinvest this money to secure the Italian goalkeeper.
In England, media outlets such as The Guardian emphasize that Guardiola values Donnarumma’s ability to start the game from the back, which is crucial in his system.
Donnarumma, charged by Manchester City
With these two signings, Manchester City will strengthen both offensively and defensively, aiming to reclaim the Premier League title and win their second ever Champions League title.
At the same time, Real Madrid will have to reorganise their attack if Rodrygo leaves the club. Florentino Pérez and Xabi Alonso will assess whether the English offer is attractive enough to let go of a player who has scored in three consecutive Champions League semi-finals. On the other hand, PSG have already found Donnarumma’s replacement: Lucas Chevalier.
If City succeed with both signings, they will secure top reinforcements in two key positions. Rodrygo will give Guardiola more attacking options, while Donnarumma will bring safety on the goal line and international experience.
