Sir Alex Ferguson has given himself the role of humorous “podcast saboteur” to two Manchester United legends.
The legendary manager, who won a whopping 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League trophies with United, showed his famously dry humour when he crashed the recording of Rio Ferdinand and Michael Carrick’s podcast.

Ferguson’s unannounced appearance
During the podcast recording, Ferguson suddenly appeared and interrupted the conversation with his characteristic grin:
“What is this?!”
“I’m not going to participate in this podcast,” he added, before dryly asking, “I just want to listen to the nonsense you guys are making.”
Boss’s phone interruption
After just five minutes, Ferguson’s phone rang in the middle of the recording – much to the amusement of his two former players.
“Isn’t that the boss’s phone ringing now?”
“Just let it ring… when the boss calls, we just have to accept it,” Ferdinand commented with laughter.
On social media, Ferdinand shared the clip of the episode with the description:
“When the boss (Sir Alex) shows up and interrupts your recording… wait for his phones to ring at the end 😂 Even after 12 years, we can’t find the courage to tell him!!”
United Legends’ Respect
Both Ferdinand (who won six PL titles and CL under Ferguson) and Carrick (now former Middlesbrough manager) showed the same respectful nervousness that all United players showed towards “The Boss”.
The episode confirms that even 12 years after Ferguson stepped down as manager, he still has the same authority and ability to make his mark – now with a good dose of self-irony.
Humorously pointed:
Ferguson’s brief but memorable performance shows that even in retirement, he retains his legendary status – and the right to call everything “nonsense” whenever he wants.
