Sir Bobby Charlton has died. He was a world champion and a Manchester United legend.
Legendary English footballer Bobby Charlton has died at the age of 86.
Bobby Charlton was the 1966 world champion. He was associated with Manchester United for most of his career. He survived the plane crash in 1958, which killed most of the then Manchester United team. Bobby Charlton played mainly as an attacking midfielder. During his almost 20-year career at Manchester United, he won the European Cup (1968), three English league titles, and once the FA Cup.
Manchester United announced the death of Bobby Charlton. A statement from his family, published by the club, shows that he died on Saturday surrounded by his loved ones. Three years ago, the British media – with the consent of his wife – reported that he was struggling with dementia.
