On Wednesday, it was reported that a bid had ticked in for Andreas Schelderup. This came a few days after Ståle Solbakken strongly encouraged the 21-year-old to seek crucial playing time outside Benfica, in order to be able to play for the Norwegian World Cup squad. On Thursday, Sky Sports reports a verbal agreement is in place.
Things started to loosen up for Andreas Schelderup last season at Benfica. Then Jose Mourinho entered the stage at the Portuguese big club in September. Four months later, the Norwegian player is well on his way out of the club. Perhaps not so strange, when Ståle Solbakken emphasizes the urgency of getting a new club and playing time for a ticket to the World Cup squad. According to transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the door is now open, with several Italian clubs interested in renting the 21-year-old, while Belgian giants Club Brugge have reportedly made a bid of 11 million euros for Schelderup for a permanent transfer.
