Jürgen Klopp was heavily linked with a return as coach this month, with Roma as his new place of work. Not long after, the legendary Liverpool manager warned that anyone who says he agrees to a new coaching job is lying. As Global Head of Soccer for Red Bull’s football venture, Klopp is fully occupied and clearly satisfied. Now the German is said to have worked actively to persuade a Premier League legend to take the biggest coaching job for RB.

Cesc Fabregas has had an impressive playing career with titles at Arsenal, Barcelona, Chelsea and the Spanish national team. As a coach, the Spaniard took the first big step this season with a promotion from assistant coach to head coach, along with Como’s promotion to Serie A. Fabregas has already shown he can shake up the bigger clubs, in April there was reportedly an offer for the coaching job at RB Leipzig who were working uphill. Transfer journalist Romano reported Fabregas declined.

Fabregas led Como to an impressive 10th place in Serie A, when it became known that Xabi Alonso was leaving Bayer Leverkusen for Real Madrid, Fabregas was quickly in as a top candidate for the job alongside Erik ten Hag. The club ended up with the former Manchester United coach.

In recent weeks, there has been new activity from the Bundesliga club. According to German Sky Sports, RB Leipzig have contacted Fabregas again, according to the media, the Como coach has been persuaded to take the job after a lengthy conversation with Jürgen Klopp, a verbal agreement should be in place.

The problem for Klopp and RB Leipzig is that Como have turned down all offers to buy free Fabregas. Sounds like the Bundesliga club will have to dig deep to persuade the Italians to let go of their successful player.
