It didn’t take long at work as Besiktas coach before Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sent a message of concern about the level at the club. Something he intended to do something about. For an Italian legend, this means the exit door, the year after he signed for Besiktas.
The Turkish media has used disaster headlines time and time again when describing Ciro Immobile’s contribution to the Besiktas game. Although the Italian has 19 goals in 41 appearances, the 35-year-old has been criticised for his lack of pace, especially after Solskjaer football was introduced at Besiktas.

Earlier this year, the “Eagle of the North” stated after some tough and unnecessary losses in the Süper Lig:
– It is a warning for us. We have to raise the level. I’m here to help Besiktas, but also, with all due respect, to promote Turkish football,” Solskjaer said.
According to the Turkish newspaper Fanatik, the Besiktas coach has made the decision to dump the biggest star on the team in order to raise the level of attacking play. Immobile has worn the shirt for Juventus, Dortmund, Sevilla and as the great Lazio legend with 207 goals in 340 games.

The Italian has one year left on his contract, but according to the Turkish newspaper, Besiktas are so keen to make room for a new striker that they are letting the 35-year-old go to Bologna for free. This says a lot about how hard Solskjaer is pushing for a new striker. Tough, but necessary.
