We have seen clubs celebrating big victories with pomp and circumstance. Besiktas outperform most when they sink city rivals such as Galatasaray and Fernebahce. Then some proper Viking short films must be produced to pay tribute to “Chief Solskjaer”.

When Solskjaer led Besiktas to victory against then-unbeaten Galatasaray in the city derby at the end of March, this was emphatically celebrated on Instagram. A video packed with symbols representing Istanbul, Besiktas with its eagle, Solskjaer as a Viking chieftain and the lion symbol of Galatasaray, presented as a lion cub caged on Solskjaer’s expedition.
