This weekend, Besiktas finally reached 3rd place in the Super Lig. Now Besiktas themselves are in charge of the journey towards the end of the season, podium position and Europa League ticket. At the same time, there are reports of great activity in the meeting and negotiation room. Solskjaer has shown he can beat Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, the two best clubs in the Super Lig. Which signals that the “Eagle of the North” can lead Besiktas, as he put it in February, to the league title in the next few seasons. Then the United legend will also get players he needs.

In January, Turkish media reported Besiktas were looking to sign Patrick Berg, but the Bodø/Glimt star stayed at Aspmyra. Solskjaer has spoken out in general about the upcoming transfer market.

“We have some thoughts about what the team should look like next season. Some stay and some come in. The players here know me now, they know what I want. There will be changes, but there are some decisions that need to be made,” Solskjaer said at a press conference.

It is a clearly optimistic Besiktas coach who is already looking forward to the coming season.

“We have to find teams for the players who leave, this has to happen the way we want it to. I have a lot of faith in the president’s project and there are many in the club who can help us. I’m very excited about the upcoming season.

Various Turkish and foreign media outlets are now bringing weekly rumors about potential signings.

According to Slovenian Futbalove Zakulisie, Besiktas have agreed with Dunajska Streda on the signing of midfielder Mahmudo Bajo from The Gambia, a move for €2.7 million plus bonuses.

German Kicker claim Besiktas have targeted left winger Fabian Reese at Hertha Berlin, with a market value of around four million euros.

And there is more to come from German football. 19-year-old Taylan Bulut at German Schalke 04 has also been linked with Besiktas.

These are all players under the radar for the biggest clubs, but for a financially squeezed Besiktas, these are “cheaper” players who are suited to Solskjaer football and can be developed by the United legend and coaching staff. It is no coincidence that players come from German football. In March, Besiktas brought in Eduard Graf as technical and scouting director. This is the man with 12 years of experience at Dortmund, including as chief scout.

Work is also being done on an established star player. The vice president at Besiktas called it an “indisputably high profile”.

Alexander Sørloth has been linked to Besiktas in the last week. Although it will take a lot for the four-goal scorer against Real Sociedad to leave his success in La Liga, it suggests that Besiktas are aiming high. With Ciro Immobilie on his way out, this is likely to go towards a bigger striker signing that will give Besiktas an “Osimhen effect”, as Galatasaray experienced this season with the super striker on loan.

Something big is going on at Besiktas before next season.
