Tottenham Hotspur captain Son Heung-min has refused to give any guarantees about his future.

Son has spent the last 10 years at Spurs, but it is unclear whether he will be with the club in the 2025/26 season.

The 32-year-old is about to enter the final 12 months of his contract and is said to be attracting interest from the Saudi Arabian professional league. It is claimed that Spurs will only approve Son’s departure if they receive “significant” offers in the summer transfer window.

Son opens up about Tottenham future

Son has just completed his final commitments for the 2024/25 season after coming on as a substitute in South Korea’s 4-0 win over Kuwait on Tuesday – a victory that secured qualification for next year’s World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

After the win in Seoul, the experienced winger could not give any guarantees about his future at Tottenham.

“I still have one year left on my contract,” Son told reporters. “Instead of saying anything concrete now, I think we should all wait and see what happens. But no matter where I end up, I will always give the best I can. That will never change.”

The South Korean international lifted the first trophy of his club career when Spurs won the Europa League in Bilbao last month.

Although the season ended on a high note, Son experienced a difficult season on a personal level, with injuries and form issues throughout the 2024/25 season.

Son scored seven goals in 30 Premier League appearances, significantly fewer than the 17 league goals he recorded in the 2023/24 season.

Although he admits it wasn’t his best season, Son insists that the 2024/25 season will be remembered for a long time thanks to Tottenham’s Europa League triumph.

“I know people might say I had a disappointing season, but personally this was a special season – because you play football to win, and only winners are remembered,” Son said.

“I wasn’t in my best shape for most of the season, but hopefully I’ll be in better shape for next season.”

If Son stays at Spurs, he will likely get the opportunity to play under Thomas Frank, who is expected to be named as Ange Postecoglou’s successor.
