Alvarez is a completely different type of striker than Alexander Sørloth, the combination has given Atletico very good results. So far this season, Alvarez has hammered in 19 goals in 38 games. Only 8 of the goals have come in La Liga, but here Sørloth has filled in with his 9 league goals. Now Atletico are turning against City again.
The sale of at least 8 players has been announced this summer, Mateo Kovacic is one of these. Atletico are looking for reinforcements in midfield, the Croatian international is the chosen one. According to Caughtoffside’s sources, the La Liga club have already been in contact with City and Kovacic, after it became known that the 30-year-old was heading for an exit.
The price is around 30 million euros, but it is expected that Atletico will be able to reduce this somewhat. A disturbing factor for the Spaniards is that Jose Mourinho has booked Kovacic as a Fenerbahce reinforcement in the summer, the same player he wanted for Manchester United in 2018. According to the English media’s sources, however, it is unlikely that the Croatian will leave the five biggest leagues to draw to Turkish football.
