Harry Maguire has in an interview last summer described Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the best coach he has played for. As we know, there will be no continuation with Solskjaer. Erik ten Hag did everything to push big Harry out of the club, but had to admit the centre-back rock was good to have, as injuries poured in in the defence and Maguire showed who United need on the pitch when games are to be decided in the final minutes. Then the Dutchman was tipped out of Old Trafford, Maguire got a central role in Amorim football. This month it was the Portuguese who was tipped out, now the Englishman is on an expiring contract, without the club having decided on a permanent coach. A bunch of clubs intend to take advantage of the opportunity.
Maguire has refused to give up at United, in 256 appearances the centre-back has proven he is the last to give up on the pitch as well. Still, everything has its end. It seems unlikely that Man Utd will extend the 32-year-old’s contract, with all the uncertainty surrounding the coaching situation.

According to Talksport, United and Maguire began informal talks last autumn about an extension, but nothing has yet been communicated. With Amorim gone, the situation has also changed. If there is no extension, a clutch of clubs are waiting for free agent Maguire.
According to Italian Sky Sports, both AC Milan and Roma are interested in Maguire, earlier this week Tuttomeractoweb also reported Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Napoli had shown interest in the English defender.

Then we are eagerly following the development towards free agent status this summer. The only sure thing is that Maguire will not go into the new season unemployed.
