Bodø/Glimt and Sporting. Two outsiders in the Champions League. Both in the round of 8. Bodø/Glimt after an unlikely journey. Sporting have shown they can shake the biggest clubs, but not the club from Bodø. Inter Milan produced trailers before the Glimt matches with creative Viking themes where the Italian monster snake eel its way into the Viking town of Aspmyra for its prey, in the return match the same full-size monster snake stood in front of the San Siro and met a lone, puzzled Viking in yellow. Sporting’s marketing department does not make the same mistake. Here the theme is faith and fighting spirit – without a Viking in sight.
After the 3-0 loss at Aspmyra, Sporting players, coaches and local media have built up an energy ahead of the return match on Tuesday. An energy that is meant to explode on the pitch in the second meeting with Bodø/Glimt. Where the theme is what the club has achieved earlier in its history, where nothing has been decided until played 90 minutes – or 120.
