Manchester United get a “boost” in Viktor Gyökere’s hunt – Sporting Lisbon changes terms. The Portuguese club clearly wants to be friends again with their Swedish superstar.

Club president Frederico Varandas drove hard against hard and demanded conditions that were far above what Viktor Gyökeres thought was agreed and reasonable. – At the same time, Varandas (who probably doesn’t live in an apartment) hinted that the whole thing could end with their biggest star staying at the club. But Viktor Gyökeres seems to be completely done with Portugal this time around, so done that he chooses to leave his model girlfriend in the country when he moves.

Sporting Lisbon are reportedly willing to accept bonuses for striker Viktor Gyökeres, giving Manchester United a better chance of signing the Swedish international.

Amorim needs reinforcements

Ruben Amorim’s squad returns to pre-season training on Monday, but the team has so far only brought in teenage defender Diego Leon and forward Matheus Cunha.

The Portuguese coach led the team to a disappointing 15th place last season, and while he is under pressure to turn the club’s fortunes around, it looks like he can’t pull off his upheaval without more signings.

The price of Gyökeres could be more affordable

United have shown interest in Sporting striker Viktor Gyökeres, but the reported price tag price of £69 million has seemed relatively high.

According to A Bola, Sporting may now be willing to accept a more flexible payment structure, with realistic bonuses for reaching the total sum – while the base amount could drop to £60.5 million.

What might United’s attack look like?

It should be mentioned that Arsenal are also heavily linked with Gyökeres, and United are far from sure of bringing him to Old Trafford.

The Gunners’ finances are said to be significantly better than Manchester United’s, but if Amorim can convince Gyökeres to choose United, the attacking line will be significantly strengthened.

Current number nine, Rasmus Hojlund, has struggled to make his mark on the team, with only four Premier League goals in 2024/25.

Matheus Cunha, who has just signed, scored 15 goals for Wolverhampton last season – which would make him United’s top scorer.

The Brazilian is likely to take one of the two attacking midfield positions in Amorim’s 3-4-3 system, and would benefit from playing behind a dominant striker like Gyökeres.

Potential dynamic attack

If United also manage to sign Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo (20 goals last season), they could get one of the league’s most exciting attacking lines.

With Bruno Fernandes still as captain, Amorim hopes he doesn’t have to rely on his star player as much as he did last season.

Signing Gyökeres would give United the goalscorer they desperately need, but the competition with Arsenal and Sporting’s terms makes this a complex transition.
