Sporting got a strong shock reaction when Ruben Amorim had to decide over the course of three days in November whether to take the Manchester Untied job. The choice fell on leaving the success in Lisbon, a choice that proved to be very challenging for Amorim, the Sporting players – and the Man United players. Sporting rebounded after a new change of coach, United and Amorim still haven’t “recovered”. Now the Portuguese club is in such a strong financial position that in two months they will sell players, but are closing the door on one of the most sought-after defensive midfielders on the market.
In January, Chelsea flipped up around €50 million for Sporting players Geovany Quenda and Dário Essugo. According to A Bola, the sale has given Sporting financial elbow room to keep the player they need most next season.

The Portuguese media claim that they will cash in on the sale of Viktor Gyökeres, Gonçalo Inácio and Ousmane Diomande, but captain Morten Hjulmand is no one to get their hands on.
If any of the Premier League clubs can’t wait, they will have to fork out €80 million to meet the buyout clause, it is reported.
