Aalesund must become stronger to ensure survival in the Eliteserien next season and that work has clearly already started. – First out is the 26-year-old center back Emil Engqvist.

Emil Engqvist, recently left Superettan club Sandvikens IF and is now making a move to Norway to play for Ålesund in the Eliteserien.

This is a player we have been following for a while and who will challenge our other defenders. We believe his qualities will complement them in a very good way, says sports director Oddbjørn Lie on Ålesund’s website.

Ålesund finished fourth in the Norwegian OBOS league this year and then secured promotion via qualification, with victories over Egersund and Kongsvinger.

Engqvist was noted for 141 games for Sandviken and also has a background in Östers IF, where he made 45 appearances.
