Against Wolves, Cody Gakpo was substituted in the 65th minute, Gerrard believes the Dutch international must be relegated to the bench on Friday when Liverpool travel to another Wolverhampton game, this time for the fifth round of the FA Cup.

“He’s right (Van Dijk), because for 65 minutes Liverpool were desperate tonight, really bad. [They] didn’t create enough, didn’t play at the right speed or the right pace, they didn’t have the right quality. He (Slot) has to start Ngumoha now, he has to start him, because he comes in and does more in a short space of time than Gakpo does in 65/70 minutes. He deserves a start now. He (Slot) has to start the kid on Friday night,” a determined Steven Gerrard told TNT Sports.
