The coaching industry in the Premier League is unpredictable, to say the least. The only predictable thing seems to be that you are praised when you succeed and fired when you don’t. What you achieved last season with the club is less important. Ask Arne Slot, ask Oliver Glasner. The latter led Crystal Palace to a historic FA Cup title, the club management told him he will let his contract expire at the end of the season, but will lead the club until then. A few weeks after this was agreed with the Palace management, Glasner is now on the verge of being sacked. In all this chaos stands our own Jørgen Strand Larsen.
Crystal Palace flipped up a wild £47 million for Jørgen Strand Larsen a few weeks ago. English Goa l called the Norwegian international striker “one season wonder”, after the super season 2024/25 followed by 1 goal in 22 Premier League games this season, but the 26-year-old showed Palace had made the right choice. In his first home game for his new Premier League club, the striker hammered in two goals. Unfortunately, this did not save the 2-3 loss against Burnley, now there are reports of change on the way.

On Friday, hyperactive transfer journalist Romano reported that Glasner, after only 1 win in the last 15 games and a 1-1 draw in the first Europa League play-off match against Mostar, has been called in for a meeting with the club’s board on Friday. Here, the parties negotiate the future. In other words, a potential earlier exit than at the end of the season.
So who moves in as the new boss of Strand Larsen?
According to talkSport, it is the current success coach of Hungarian Ferencvaros who is on the wish list. This is not just anyone. Robbie Keane has played for a bunch of clubs: Tottenham, Liverpool, Inter Milan, Leeds, Celtic, West Ham, Wolverhampton, Coventry, Aston Villa and LA Galaxy. In 2018, the Premier League star retired as a player, and went directly into coaching.
Assistant coach at Middlesbrough and Leeds, saw a short stay as head coach at an Israeli club, in 2025 the Irishman signed for Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
According to the English media, Keane is one of the top candidates to replace Glasner at the end of the season, but Friday’s developments could push this until Robbie Keane emerges as the new Palace manager in the near future.
