It should be clear in practice, Lyn’s head coach from 6 June 2001 to New Year’s Eve the same year, a job he left to take over England’s U19 national team. 71-year-old Stuart Baxter is back in a new coaching job.

Baxter, who has been national team manager for Finland and South Africa, is brought in to save the Portuguese club Boavista from relegation.

Boavista just fired Lito Vidigal who only got 55 days and 6 games as manager. He took over on February 10 from Cristiano Bacci.

“We are in general agreement,” he says to Aftonbladet and follows up: “We will park a lot of buses” … And “We’ll see if Gyökeres can climb over our bus”

Boavista are last in the Portuguese league and this winter brought in several experienced players, including former PSG full-back Layvin Kurzawa, in an attempt to reverse the trend.

Now the club is taking a new approach to save the season. The former Vissel Kobe, Lyn, Helsingborg, AIK and HBK coach Stuart Baxter are brought in to lead the rescue operation.

“The agreement is largely clear, but some details remain. Boavista wants me to try to keep them in the league. I was just watching them lose 0-1 at home against Nacional,” Baxter said.

The goal is clear: Save the space

Baxter has one clear mandate:
“The first priority is to save the seat. If we can do that, I would like to be part of building something new. Considering the club’s history, the stadium and the fans, this is very exciting.

He emphasizes:
“This will be a tough challenge, but also a lot of fun.

According to A Bola, Baxter will officially take up the position from Monday.

Baxter’s last coaching job

Baxter left Helsingborgs IF after the 2023 season. Now he returns to coaching in a high-pressure environment in Portugal.

Will this be a rescue operation or an impossible task? The Boavista supporters are of course hoping for the first.
