Jadon Sancho is currently on loan at Chelsea from Manchester United, but the deal contains a special clause. After “resolving” the conflict with Erik ten Hag and returning to United ahead of the 2024/25 season, Sancho was nevertheless sent on loan to Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window.

So far, the England international has made 39 appearances and scored four goals for Enzo Maresca’s team, who are fifth in the Premier League and have reached the final of the Conference League.

But Jadon Sancho hasn’t quite convinced at Chelsea, who reportedly have a commitment to buy him for £20 million, plus a further £5 million in bonuses depending on performance.

Fenerbahce enters the match

According to Turkish Fanatik, Fenerbahce, now managed by José Mourinho, are interested in the 25-year-old. Club president Ali Koç has just stated that they will “strengthen their wings for next season”.

Fenerbahce, who are second in the Turkish Süper Lig, were also linked with Sancho last summer before he chose Chelsea.

But they are getting competition: Former club Borussia Dortmund are considering bringing him back for a third time, and Bayer Leverkusen are also interested as a replacement for Florian Wirtz if he leaves the club as expected.

Chelsea’s special deal with United

Chelsea reportedly do not want to sign Sancho permanently, despite the purchase clause. But according to The Mirror, they have an opportunity to avoid the obligation – by paying a £5 million “fine” to Manchester United.

At the same time, United are hoping to get around £20 million for Sancho, for whom they paid £73 million in 2021. A cumbersome saga seems to be coming to an end – but where does he end up?

This is how we think things will happen for Jadon Sancho in the summer window.

First, Chelsea return Jadon Sancho to Manchester United and pay the £5 million “fine”.

Then a club buys Jadon Sancho, probably one of the two players in the Bundesliga, for £20 million.

Manchester United are left with an extra £5 million. And so, we actually think as soon as Jadon Sancho is done with United, he will blossom again.
