While Donald Trump and the gang are making the entire World Cup playoffs this summer seem less and less feasible, Ståle Solbakken and the Norwegian national team are working on making the plan for the optimal run-up to our World Cup. Not only have we finally qualified again, the national team has shown in the World Cup qualifiers and with players beyond Haaland and Ødegaard, who assert themselves in the biggest leagues, that Solbakken’s chosen ones do not travel to the World Cup as football tourists. Last week, Solbakken hinted at a test match, now comes the confirmation.
On Thursday, the confirmation came: Graham Potter and Sweden travel to Oslo on June 1 for a match against Norway.

We let the Swedes describe us as opponents.
“It feels good to have the opponent in place for the first game in June, and we are looking forward to going to Oslo and playing against Norway. It will be a classic Nordic showdown with good energy. Norway is qualified for the World Cup, and when we meet in June, we hope that we are too, so the match will be an important part of the run-up to the playoffs, says the Swedish national team manager Stefan Pettersson.
While Ståle Solbakken focuses on France and Senegal in June, Sweden will be in contention for the last tickets to the playoffs. In the playoffs, Ukraine awaits in the semi-finals and either Poland or Albania in the decisive match.
