When Ruben Amorim was asked about Marcus Rashford after Sunday’s tough defeat to Brighton, the United manager was uninterested in spending time on the 27-year-old, dismissing Rashford not being part of the squad with: “It was his decision”. After Thursday, Amorim can finally avoid questions about a player he does not use in the match arena.

Rashford is “ready for new challenges” but has a wage demand of around £325,000 a week that makes renting problematic. Napoli, Inter Milan, Como, interest in Rashford is high in Serie A, but in recent weeks a club with good experience in renting “superfluous” Manchester United players has come on the scene.

Borussia Dortmund had a successful loan spell with Jadon Sancho, according to Bild, the Bundesliga club, which is really in a sporting squeeze after ugly losses in the Bundesliga, is so and so in agreement with Manchester United.

The German media claims Dortmund are renting Rashford for the rest of the season, with the Germans paying up to 8 million euros in wages. The confirmation will come on Thursday.
