According to a German source, Arsenal are in talks to bring Bayern Munich’s attacking midfielder Jamal Musiala to the Emirates Stadium. They have also revealed his “dream” club.
Musiala’s formative years as a footballer as a child were in Chelsea’s youth academy, before moving to Bayern Munich in 2019. The 22-year-old attacker has established himself as a key player for the Bavarian giants, with 64 goals and 40 assists in 208 appearances.

The Germany international, who made his long-awaited return this month after breaking his shin bone and spraining his ankle during the Club World Cup in July 2025, signed a new contract with Bayern in February 2025. It ties him to the German club until the summer of 2030.
Although Bayern have no plans to sell Musiala, Bayern Space claims that talks between the player’s representatives and Arsenal are ongoing.
The German source claims that Arsenal and Chelsea are the most realistic destinations for the 22-year-old, although his long-term goal is to play for Barcelona.
Detailed situation of Jamal Musiala
Bayern Space wrote on social media: “Jamal Musiala’s contract extension, signed last year, includes an exponential salary adjustment that increases with each passing season.
“His current salary is set at 32.5 million euros per year and increases by 10 percent annually. It will rise to €35.75 million at the start of next season, with the final contract year in 2030 set at €52.35 million.
“This makes it, by a significant margin, the most lucrative contract in the history of German football.
“Equally remarkable is the structure that Musiala’s representatives negotiated regarding his buyout clause.
“The deal includes a decreasing buyout clause that falls with each transfer window that passes.
“Originally set at €175 million (£150 million), the clause has already dropped to €150 million (£127.5 million) for the upcoming summer transfer window, after two completed transfer windows.
“The amount is expected to drop further to around €135 million (£115 million) in the summer of 2027. This period is already seen internally as a realistic departure window, amid growing interest from clubs such as Arsenal and Chelsea.
“It is worth noting that Musiala’s long-term dream is to play for Barcelona, while the Premier League – especially Arsenal and Chelsea – is internally seen as the most realistic destination.
“Barcelona will only realistically be able to make such a move later in the contract period, potentially in the summer of 2028 when the buyout clause is expected to drop to around €125 million (£105 million), in 2029 to around €100 million (£85 million), or finally in 2030 if he completes his contract and leaves on a free transfer.
“In parallel, it is understood that informal discussions in the background and loose lines of contact with Arsenal and Chelsea are ongoing, which keeps both clubs positioned should the situation accelerate earlier than expected.”
