The Telegraph reports that the temporary will be in place on Monday, a short week before Premier League leaders Arsenal travel to Tottenham Hottspur Stadium.

TEAMtalk reports that Spurs’ management has been unwavering in their message to each and every candidate: only the interim position is being discussed at this stage, while the permanent job will be considered in the summer after a full internal review.

De Zerbi, who is open to a long-term project in North London, had no interest whatsoever in taking a temporary post. He didn’t feel that a temporary stay aligned with his ambitions, despite being intrigued by the idea of a permanent role further into the future.

Club legend Robbie Keane has the same attitude. Keane made it clear that he would not consider a short-term appointment, eliminating himself from consideration in the same way as De Zerbi.

With both men unwilling to take over the helm on an interim basis, Spurs considered alternative options. After considering candidates such as current manager John Heitinga and former club supporter Ryan Mason, attention shifted to Igor Tudor – a manager who had also shown interest in the vacant place at Nottingham Forest.

The former Juventus and Marseille manager is said to have accepted the job until the end of the summer.

His arrival gives the club the experienced transfer figure they sought as they continue to evaluate long-term candidates before a crucial off-season.
