Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim doesn’t exactly lead a team from win to win, yet due to Marcus Rashford’s attitudes, probably on the orders of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, he has left out his Premier League top scorer this season from the last three games.
Later today, Boxing Day, it’s time for an away clash at Molineux Stadium against Wolverhampton.
Transfer journalist David Ornstein of The Athletic provides a fresh update on Marcus Rashford before the transfer window reopens in a few days.
His future has been the subject of intense transfer speculation, with the 27-year-old admitting that he is “ready for a new challenge” – an admission that has not been well received by the crowd at Old Trafford.
Naturally, Rashford has been heavily linked with several clubs, including a sensational swap deal that has reportedly been “given the green light”. But Ornstein believes that a loan deal is more in the cards considering that the player is not currently playing and is earning an extremely high salary.
He claims that a January sale is difficult to “imagine”.
A loan move would give him the chance to “get back on track” and “rebuild value” before the issue is brought up again next summer. – This was the arrangement for both Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood, who went on loan to Borussia Dortmund and Getafe respectively before securing permanent deals away from Old Trafford.
Rashford has made 27 appearances across all competitions this season and has not played since playing in the Europa League against Viktoria Plzen. The star striker is keen to play, according to Amorim who explained: “Yes, it’s my decision. He wants to play. He tries.
“When I feel like it’s the right moment, I want to change something. Until then, I will continue to think about what is best for the team.
“I spoke to a lot of players individually during training, so I try to do things my way – that’s the only way I know.
“If I don’t, I’ll lose myself. And I don’t want to lose myself. I know what I’m doing.”
