National team manager Rodrigo Caetano of the Brazilian Football Federation has revealed that Brazil is in negotiations for a friendly match against Norway as the last test before next summer’s World Cup.
In an interview with ESPN Brasil, the sports director confirms that work is being done to put in place a pre-season match against Norway before the championship gets underway next summer.
“We are still negotiating our last pre-season game. Of course, we have a preference. It requires further dialogue, but our first choice is the Norwegian national team, which is a strong team at the moment.”
The sports director also uses the opportunity to praise the Norwegian team.
“I also think they will have a very good World Cup, so this last friendly match would be a good and challenging test for us.”

Norway is the only nation Brazil has faced that they have never defeated.
In total, Norway has played four matches against Brazil. The first match was a friendly match in 1988 that ended 1–1. In 1997, Norway won 4–2 at Ullevaal Stadion. The following year, the teams met again at the 1998 World Cup.
Then Norway won 2–1 and advanced to the knockout round, where Norway’s last World Cup match so far ended with a 0–1 against Italy in the round of 16.
