Harry Kane’s future at Bayern Munich is up for debate.

A German pundit has revealed that Harry Kane is expected to leave Bayern Munich before his contract expires in 2027, and a pre-agreed transfer is proof that the Bundesliga champions know his fate.

Kane has started his third season with Bayern after leaving Tottenham Hotspur in 2023 in search of big trophies. He finally got his hands on silver this year, first with the 2024-25 Bundesliga title and then with the German Super Cup in 2025.

However, back in England working for his country, the possibility of Kane leaving Bayern in 2026 – one year before his contract expires – has come into focus.

“It’s no big secret that people in Germany don’t expect Harry Kane to finish his career at Bayern,” journalist Raphael Honigstein told talkSPORT.

“I think Bayern are prepared for the possibility that he will leave a little earlier than his contract, which runs until 2027.”

“Somehow he and the club have to decide on this very soon.”

“They were pushing for someone who can be both a reserve and an apprentice for Kane. They looked at [Benjamin] Sesko. They looked at [Nick] Woltemade – they ended up with [Nicolas] Jackson, with a commitment to buy.”

“This suggests that Bayern are aware of the possibility that Kane could leave in one or two years’ time.”

“But at the same time, he’s so good that everyone who comes in has to play around him.”

“There is absolutely no chance that Jackson will displace Kane. He will have to play with him, in front of him or give Kane a rest for a game or two.”

“But he’s there to be his eventual successor, but we’re still quite far away from that.”

Deal with Chelsea suggests Kane sale

Jackson joined Bayern from Chelsea on the last day of the transfer window on a loan deal that will automatically become permanent if he reaches an appearance target.

With Kane clearly ahead of him in the hierarchy, it remains to be seen whether he will play enough, but a five-year contract has been agreed for the Senegalese striker when Bayern buy him.

They have already paid a significant loan fee worth more than £14 million to sign Jackson this season, and could put around £56 million more into Chelsea’s pockets for a permanent deal.

The kind of fees in question are proof that Bayern believe Jackson will be their new starting striker in the future, and potentially expect Kane’s departure.

Considering the amount they spent on Kane themselves – a Bundesliga record fee – and what they are about to pay for Jackson next summer, losing Kane for free in 2027 would be a financial blow for Bayern.

It remains to be seen where the Premier League’s second-best goalscorer of all time can go next, while Bayern will also have to decide how much they want for him in a transfer fee.

Kane’s former club Tottenham secured matching rights to any offer Bayern receive for Kane as part of the deal when they sold him in 2023.

In other news, Bayern have been mentioned as the latest contenders to sign Marc Guehi in 2026.

Guehi missed out on a move to Liverpool from Crystal Palace on the last day of the transfer window, but with his contract expiring next summer, European suitors could come into play for him from January.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both linked with Guehi, but so is Bayern now, with a reporter revealing the favourites for the England international’s signature.
