Before he returned the loan, there had been considerable uncertainty about his Chelsea future. The Blues vacillated between keeping him or making him available for sale or what about a loan. – They often changed their attitude several times during a week.

His importance to the Ligue 1 team was well illustrated on Sunday when head coach Liam Rosenior gave the youngster the captaincy in Habib Diarra’s absence. Although Strasbourg would eventually succumb to a 2-1 defeat to Nice, Santos impressed with his armband and was an outstanding performer for his team, contributing defensively and offensively with three important passes and more tackles than anyone else.
“He was amazing,” Rosenior told GFFN after the game. “He shows constant professionalism every day in his work, he constantly wants to improve and constantly trains at 100 percent.
“There were other players who had a worthy cause to be captain, but I felt Andrey was the right choice. I felt that he was not doing the armband any disservice at all.”
Santos has contributed five goals and one assist for Strasbourg so far this season. It will be interesting to see if Chelsea can find a place for him after this season. – The experts agree that they should do that!.
