When Manchester United pushed a solid €50 million across the table to PSG for Manuel Ugarte in August 2024, there were wide smiles from the United management. The Uruguayan midfield pit bull was supposed to take back control of the defensive midfield. The following year, the 24-year-old stands with 314 minutes in the Premier League arena so far in the season. Not surprisingly, interest comes from a suitor who sees the opportunity to exploit United’s misinvestment.

Some would argue that Ugarte has never had the chance to establish himself with Ruben Amoriom with game time crumbs, but as long as Casemiro stays at the top level, Ugarte will have to make do with the bench. According to journalist Erol Evsen, Galatasaray have seen the opportunity to take advantage of the situation.

The Turkish giants, who sent Liverpool home with a 1-0 loss in the Champions League last autumn, are following Ugarte’s performance and situation closely, it is reported.

Ugarte performed well under Ruben Amorim at Sporting, but at Old Trafford, the Portuguese is anything but happy with the 24-year-old’s level.

His contract with United runs until 2029, but it won’t surprise many if the club chooses to “cut their losses” and dump Ugarte on the transfer market. Galatasaray is then ready, for rent, or permanent transfer.
