What a comeback final by Chelsea! From 1-0 down after the first half to a 1-4 win and Conference League title. After the game, it was the usual victory interviews with the Chelsea players, TNT Sports wanted to hear a catchy summary of Cole Palmer. It was a summary, if you can call it a few monosyllabic words and a bit of grunting.

Palmer has had a demanding season, but has risen to the occasion and helped secure Chelsea’s Champions League ticket in the Premier League and on Tuesday a Conference League title. Then the microphone was stuck under the 23-year-old’s nose and it caught fire on social media.

When asked how he found space to send off the two assists in the finals, the answer came:

-“Erm… I don’t know. I was trying to find space as the team got going. And yes.”

Okay, a little fumbling on the first question. Now to the others…:

Not surprisingly, there were “some” reactions on social media from the supporters. Here is a small selection:

“Will Cole Palmer ever get media training? His interviews are definitely unique.”

“Experts and journalists should just never interview Cole Palmer. The guy has no interest in talking to them…”
